MAPUSA: Babu, also known as Narayan Bhalekar, of Mapusa, who was detained in May of this year on suspicion of killing Ahamed Devdi in Ganeshpuri, Mapusa, had his bail request denied by the Panaji Additional Sessions Court-1.
Bhalekar had claimed that there was no proof against him and maintained his innocence in his bail application. Additionally, he denied any involvement in the supposed offenses filed against him in response to a complaint made by Keshar Devdi of Khorlim, Mapusa.
According to Devdi’s complaint, four individuals used metal rods to attack his son Ahamed Devdi and his son’s friend Sandesh Salkar, threatening them with severe repercussions. Salkar had surgery and was still on medicine, and Ahmed passed away while receiving therapy.
Adv Vinayak Porob, who was representing intervenor Sandesh Salkar, submitted images that demonstrated how the defendants viciously attacked Salkar.
Additionally, he recorded an audio recording of the prime accused’s oral threats against the deceased and the intervener on a CD. He told the court that because of some past animosity, the principal accused, the applicant, and other accused had formed a criminal conspiracy.
Adv. Porob added that the applicant was a history sheeter and a repeat offender, and that he leads a gang of Bhalekar brothers. He was afraid that if he was released on bail, he would endanger the case’s witnesses.
Sections 326, 506 (ii), 307, 120 B, 212, 302, and 201 read with section 34 of the IPC have all been charged against the defendants. After doing an investigation, Mapusa PI Nikhil Palekar charged the defendant.
