PORVORIM: Minister for Tourism and IT Rohan Khaunte announced a series of initiatives by his departments, including the Development of Basilica of Bom Jesus Project under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) Scheme.
Replying to the demands of Tourism and IT, Khaunte said, “We will be taking Development of Basilica of Bom Jesus Project under Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) Scheme.
He also announced that this year we are proposing an integrated beach management policy which will include lifeguard, cleaning, safety, surveillance and illumination. “Everything will be a part of one policy,” said Khaunte.
Speaking on IT and startup, he said around 146 startups have been certified till now.
“Rs 2.77 crore disbursed to Startups. We have kept a Rs 10 lakh grant for startups driven by women. Goan startups have started building success stories around the ecosystem. We have also changed the turnaround time. The one who applies to be a start, we have reduced his paperwork time from 30 days to mere 4 days,” he said.
He said the department is going ahead with a cloud-based state data centre where we can host government and private data.
“This will be a revenue model for the state,” he said.
Under Tower policy, he said, the towers are coming, but they are coming to the areas where they can be commercially exploited.
“They don’t go to the areas where connectivity is required. We will be calling and discussing with them,” he said, adding, “I appeal to all the MLAs to at least suggest two locations in each of your constituencies where we can start free wifi connectivity.”
He said to start Goa as a destination on lines with T Hub. For that we need spaces.
“We have already advertised asking people to lease out their spaces. Today we are ready with the database,” he said.
Khaunte said on the Electronic manufacturing facility at Tuem, they have to see Revenue per square metre and employment per square metre.
“We need to see the right companies coming in there,” he said.
On Goa Electronic Limited would be responsible for govt websites. GEL will get the work done by involving the Startups. GEL will act like an umbrella,” he said.
