CANSAULIM: The much-needed infrastructure development of Hollant, Cansaulim and Velsao beaches is on the cards as the Tourism Department officials inspected the facilities needed.
Changing rooms, toilets, illumination of beaches, benches and CCTV Cameras are a few of the facilities that would be provided at the beaches, said the Tourism Department officials.
Kiran Naik, an official of Tourism, said the development is undertaken at the request of MLAs who had a meeting with the Tourism department to develop coastal beaches.
“The department will develop good facilities to boost tourism activities. Besides 24×7 patrolling for safety on beaches would be undertaken,” said Naik.
Roquezinho Dsouza, a social worker, said he had initiated the proposal before the Cortalim MLA Anton Vas.
“Lot of tourists throng the beach, but that creates chaos as there are no parking facilities. Renovation of beaches had become necessary as there were no toilet or changing room facilities,” he said.
He said there was a need to enhance security on the beaches.
“With murders, rapes happening these days, there have to be proper patrolling CCTV cameras are become a must,” he said.
