PANAJI: Minister for Power and New & Renewable, Sudin Dhavalikar, met the Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable, R. K. Singh at New Delhi to discuss various matters related to the Power Sector in the state of Goa.
Predominantly, the focus of the meeting was the allocation of Central Government grants to the state regarding the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme and for additional power allocation during the peak load period. Other matters such as the erection of the two new 220 KV Extra High Voltage Substations in North and South Goa and up-gradation of the existing 220/110KV substations through Central Government funds were also discussed in the meeting. The Minister for Power, Goa, Sudin Dhavalikar, requested the Union Power Minister for special consideration to the State being an International tourist destination and also keeping in view the geographical and ecological balance of the State. He also emphasised the importance of Renewable Energy and Solar rooftop with battery storage capacity.
The Union Power Minister, Shri. R. K. Singh mentioned that Goa was a gateway for tourists worldwide and assured all support to the state. He also appreciated the state for the initiatives taken by the Department for providing Online Services to the consumers. The Union Power Minister also agreed to State’s request to provide additional incentives for Solar Rooftop projects with battery storage. Shri also attended the meeting. Alok Kumar, Union Power Secretary, Government of India, Sh. Vishal Kapoor, Joint Secretary, Distribution, Ministry of Power, Shri. Ghanshyam Prasad, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power, Sh. Y.V.V.J Rajasekhar, Secretary, Power, Goa, Shri. Stephen Fernandes, the Chief Electrical Engineer and other senior offices from the Ministry of Power.
