PANAJI: MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar today clarified that MGP will stand strong with its alliance and Goa a change it desires.
The news was doing the rounds that the MGP-TMC alliance is on the verge of collapse.
“This is a fake news propaganda created by some national parties to create confusion among voters and candidates,” said Dhavalikar.
He further said that they have already declared their prepoll alliance with TMC and that MGP will stand strong with its alliance and give Goa the change it desires.
BJP Leader Siddharth Kuncolienkar this morning had tweeted of the MGP-TMC split ahead of the Goa Assembly Elections.
“News of MGP & AITC breaking up floating around. Sure that with Devendra Fadnavis at the helm of election affairs, something good is expected,” said Siddharth.
The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) in Goa had announced a prepoll alliance with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) after encouraging preliminary talks between the two parties.
The MGP had won three out of the 40 assembly seats in the 2017 state elections, but its two legislators later defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling party in the coastal state, leaving only Sudin Dhavalikar, the elder of the two Dhavalikar siblings, as the party’s representative in the state’s legislature.
