Panaji: Don Bosco College, Panjim hosted the 16th edition of its flagship intercollegiate festival, Meteora 2026, on February 5 and 6 at the Oratory. Themed “Echoes of the Lost Cities,” the two day event brought together students from across Goa for a vibrant showcase of talent, innovation and sportsmanship.
The festival opened with an energetic inaugural ceremony attended by College Director Rev. Fr Kinley D’Cruz, Principal Prof Teotone Vaz, Vice Principal Dr Cedric Silveira and Faculty Incharge Asst Prof Agnelo D’Souza, along with the student organising team. Singer, actor and educator Adv Sonia Shirsat graced the occasion as chief guest, encouraging students to actively engage in cultural pursuits and celebrating Goan folk traditions with the audience.
Meteora 2026 featured 27 events aligned with its historical theme, divided into pre events, on stage, off stage and sports categories. Popular stage events included the battle of bands, group dance competition, lip sync battle, product pitch contest, DJ battle, fashion show and the Mr and Ms Meteora pageant. Off stage competitions tested creativity and intellect through activities such as fireless cooking, currency design, quiz contests, debate and mascot creation. Traditional and fun sporting events including gulli danda, sack race, tug of war, futsal and ironman added to the competitive spirit.
Nine colleges participated, each representing a themed team inspired by legendary cities. The atmosphere remained charged throughout the festival as teams competed for top honours.
The final day featured a much anticipated fashion show and DJ battle, followed by guest performances from DJ Scott and DJ Rushat. During the valedictory ceremony, Jeremiah Logan De Souza of Nirmala Institute of Education and Suhani Naik of Dhempe College were crowned Mr and Ms Meteora.
