PANAJI: The Dicarpale Boys emerged champions of the Silver Jubilee Soccer Cup after defeating the Margao Boys 3-2 in an exciting final held at the Dicarpale Church ground. Organized by Our Lady of Fatima Church, Dicarpale, the tournament witnessed a thrilling contest between two competitive sides. Dicarpale took an early lead with Mark Carvalho scoring in the 6th minute, followed by Preston doubling the advantage in the 12th minute. Margao responded with a spirited comeback as Joywin Carneiro reduced the margin in the 35th minute, and Benjoe equalized five minutes later. However, Mark Carvalho once again rose to the occasion, netting the winning goal in the 45th minute to seal the victory for Dicarpale.
As champions, the Dicarpale Boys were awarded a cash prize of ₹30,000 along with the winners’ trophy, while Margao Boys took home ₹20,000 as runners-up. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Velim MLA Cruz Silva as the chief guest, who handed over the awards in the presence of dignitaries including Siddhesh Bhagat, Fr. George Ratos (Parish Priest of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, Paroda), Simon Carvalho (Panch of Dicarpale), Rev. Fr. Joaquim Fernandes (Parish Priest of Dicarpale), and Manoj Dukle.
Individual honours were also presented at the ceremony. Mark Carvalho of Dicarpale was named both the Man of the Finals and the Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance. Joywin Carneiro of Margao was awarded Best Forward, Mohammad of Dicarpale was recognized as Best Goalkeeper, and Santan of Margao received the Best Midfielder award. The tournament concluded with celebrations and applause, highlighting a memorable day for local football and community spirit.
