Porvorim: Dimitri Smirnov emerged victorious at the 2nd Invitational Tennis League, defeating Santosh Gorawar in a thrilling final match with a scoreline of 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at Porvorim. The competitive event, organized by the First Serve Sports Club under the aegis of the Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA), saw 24 of Goa’s top tennis players battle for supremacy over an intense weekend of competition.
In the semi-finals, Smirnov showcased his resilience by overcoming Nagesh Naik 3-6, 6-0, 10-8, while Gorawar secured his finals berth with a hard-fought 5-7, 6-3, 10-4 win against Suraj Sadanah. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by GSTA President Samir Kakodkar, Coach Valentino, and First Serve Sports Club members Allan Fernandes (President), Kedar Tari (Secretary), and Wayne Fernandes (Treasurer). The tournament reinforced Goa’s growing stature in tennis while providing a platform for the state’s top talents to shine.
