PANAJI: The Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao demanded that the Governor should dismiss this corrupt government, which allowed the Arpora club to operate without permissions, leading to the tragic loss of 25 lives due to its negligence.
After visiting the burn survivors at Goa Medical College along with Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa, Alemao attacked BJP Government for creating such crisis by allowing illegalities in the state.
“Despite demolition order from panchayat, this night club was operating with the blessings of this corrupt Government. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and his cabinet colleagues should come clear on this,” Alemao said.
“It is extremely painful and heartbreaking day for Goa. Such tragedies happening in Goa are inconceivable. I share the pain and grief of the families who lost their kith and kin,” Alemao said.
Cuncolim MLA said that the loss of the families is irreparable. “The government should immediately declare and pay compensation to families on humanitarian grounds,” he said.
“These are clear signs of the total collapse of governance in the state. It seems the administration is in sleep mode as the Nightclub was running without required licences and permissions,” he said.
“This horrifying incident is a shame to the government. This incident has positioned Goa to the world as the most unsafe tourist location. As if incidents of rape, road deaths, drugs and sexual offences were not enough that we have 25 deaths due to fires in a club frequented by tourists,” he said.
