PANAJI: Goa Forward Party (GFP) today has written to the President of India Ram Nath Kovind, urging him to dismiss the BJP led state government in Goa and immediately impose President’s rule after corruption charges.
“For the first time in the history of our great democratic nation, a sitting Governor has asserted without a shred of hesitation or doubt that a sitting Chief Minister and his government are seeped in corrupt practices, misconduct and wrongdoing, particularly during the lockdown period of the Covid-19 pandemic,” said GFP President Vijai Sardesai.
He further said that even though the issue of rampant corruption and endemic malfeasance has been the theme of the Pramod Sawant government and does not come as a surprise to anyone, this revelation by the Malik, who had been the 18th Governor of Goa and had had the opportunity to observe this government at close quarters, has caused untold disgrace and humiliation not only to the people of the state but also to the people of our nation.
“Goa is a small state, but we are a proud people. Our self-esteem and honour are non-negotiable. The Governor’s disclosures on the conduct and character of our government will remain as a smudge on our psyche unless urgent and decisive steps are taken in this regard. Also, this has only helped to substantiate the common public perception that our political and administrative systems are incorrigibly and irreversibly corrupt,” he said.
Vijai also said that the onus to rid our society of all forms of corruption and to usher in clean and transparent governance falls squarely and unmistakably on us as politicians, public functionaries and holders of public office.
