MAPUSA: A dispute between two groups over registration and ownership rights at Shri Simeshwar Rashtroli Devasthan in Acoi, Mapusa turned violent on Thursday, leading to a scuffle and assault.
According to sources, tensions escalated when members of both factions confronted each other over issues related to the management and registration of the Devasthan. The argument soon turned into a physical altercation, resulting in injuries to five persons.
Three of the injured were shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC) for further treatment, while two others were treated locally. The condition of the injured is reported to be stable.
Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and brought the situation under control. The incident created tension in the area for some time.
