MARGAO: The District Level Committee (DLC) of Kushavati District, presided over by Ms Egna Cleetus, IAS, Collector, convened to examine claims forwarded by the Sub-Divisional Level Committees of Quepem and Sanguem talukas under the provisions of the Forest Rights Act, 2006.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed a total of 62 claims. Of these, 43 claims were received from Cazur village in Quepem taluka, while 19 claims pertained to the villages of Rivona, Villiana and Bhati in Sanguem taluka.
The scrutiny was undertaken as part of the statutory process laid down under the Forest Rights Act, 2006, to ensure that individual and community forest rights claims are examined and processed in accordance with the law.
