PANAJI: The District Magistrate, North Goa, has imposed a temporary ban on the digging or cutting of all types of roads along the stretch from Zuari Bridge to Taj Cidade de Goa, Horizon, Dona Paula via GMC Bambolim, without prior permission from the District Magistrate.
As per the order, only applications or requests for road cutting that are emergent or urgent in nature—pertaining to essential services such as water supply, sewerage, electrical connections and similar works—will be considered. Such requests from the general public, government departments or other agencies must be routed through the concerned departments, which will forward them to the District Magistrate, North Goa, along with proper recommendations and justifications for further action.
The order states that any person, agency or department found contravening the directive will be liable for punishment under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The ban will come into force from December 27, 2025, and will remain effective till 10.00 am on December 28, 2025.
