Veterinary doctor Dr. Malory Ferrao conducted a two-hour surgery to save a Olive Ridley turle, at Government veterinary Hospital, Sonsodo – Raia.
Dr Ferrao, on prompt response conducted two hour surgery, which involve suturing the deep lacerated wounds under local anesthesia.
The case was reported to the doctor on July 7, by duly active and dedicated Forest Department personnel, wherein the Olive Ridley
female turtle weighing 22 kgs was found injured on both its fore flippers and one hind flipper, making it painful and unable to walk or move.
Turtle was found on the shores of Vasco beach.
In the present times, there have been number of cases of injured Olive Ridley turtles. Due to improper disposal of fishing nets into the sea.
