Panaji: Day two of the Junior Cricket Championship delivered emphatic performances as Dhadsakhal Stars, AK Rangers, Power Panthers Porvorim, and hosts Oxford registered convincing victories on Thursday. The tournament is being organised by Oxford Cricket Club and continues to showcase emerging talent across venues in Goa.
At the SAG Ground, Dhadsakhal Stars produced a clinical display against Ghumteshwar. Batting first, Ghumteshwar struggled against disciplined bowling and were dismissed for 97 in 22 overs. Rehan Hubali fought hard with 37, while Yash Shet added 19, but wickets fell regularly at the other end. Shaurya Chodankar led the attack with an incisive spell that dismantled the batting order. Dhadsakhal Stars made light work of the chase, racing to 101 for one in just 7.4 overs. Adeep Prabhu Misquin remained unbeaten on a commanding 59, supported by Pranjal Singh’s 32. Chodankar was named Man of the Match for his match-winning impact.
In another SAG Ground encounter, AK Rangers overpowered Banjara Cricket Club by 46 runs. Tanishq Naik stole the show with a superb unbeaten 122, guiding Rangers to a formidable 203 for three in 25 overs, with Sahil Gaonkar contributing 28. Banjara fought back through Nanthan Sawant’s valiant 64 but were bowled out for 157 in 24.3 overs. Naik capped his performance with three wickets to earn Man of the Match honours.
Action at the Arlem Ground saw Power Panthers Porvorim edge past Margao Cricket Club by 14 runs. After posting 155 for six, powered by unbeaten knocks from Anurag Bahadur with 34 and Saish Virnodkar with 30, the Panthers held their nerve as Margao replied with 141 for seven despite an unbeaten 56 from Keyaan Thota. Bahadur’s all-round effort, including two wickets for 25, earned him Man of the Match.
Hosts Oxford rounded off the day with a dominant 60-run win over Panaji Challengers. Oxford posted 165 for six, led by Rumaan Mulam’s 46, Vishesh Behl’s 38, and Farhan Shaikh’s 35. Panaji Challengers were bowled out for 105 in 23.4 overs, with Mulam also impressing with the ball to be adjudged Man of the Match.
