PANAJI:
The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Don Bosco College, Panjim organised a talk as part of Media Mosaic, an initiative for career-oriented guidance. The topic was ‘Research in Mass Communication and Journalism’. Esteemed journalist and graphic
novelist Mr Derek Almeida was the resource person for the same.
In his talk, Mr Derek cited examples of comparing products and services on a daily basis. He
highlighted the importance of critically analysing data instead of merely consuming it. Further,
he encouraged participants to rely on multiple sources of information and utilise tools for
verifying claims. The talk ended with a Q&A session where Mr Derek clarified queries about
reliable news agencies.
The event was conducted by Mariska De Souza and Saloni Pai from SY BAMCJ. Assistant
Professor Ardra Naik presented a memento to the resource person, while Assistant Professor.
Jude Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
