PANAJI: Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda emerged as the champions of the Women’s Inter Collegiate Handball Championship for the academic year 2025 to 26 after a commanding performance in the final held at the Goa University grounds in Taleigao. The tournament, organised by the university, took place on March 2 and March 4 and witnessed participation from colleges across the state.
In the championship final, the Don Bosco Engineering team delivered an impressive display of skill and teamwork to defeat Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim with a convincing scoreline of 14 to 4. The victory secured the title for the Margao based institution after a strong run throughout the tournament.
Earlier in the semifinals, Don Bosco College of Engineering registered a dominant 10 to 1 win over Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Miramar to book their place in the final. In the other semifinal match, Rosary College of Commerce and Arts narrowly defeated Don Bosco College, Panjim with a close score of 3 to 2 to advance to the championship match.
A total of 19 women’s teams from various colleges participated in the two day inter collegiate competition, making the tournament a competitive sporting event in the university calendar.
Individual honours also went to the winning team, with Miffy Rebelo of Don Bosco College of Engineering being named the Best Player in the women’s category for her outstanding performance during the championship.
The medal presentation ceremony was attended by senior officials from the university. Dr. Anthony Veigas graced the event as the chief guest and presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners up teams. He was joined by Balachandra Jadar during the ceremony.
The Don Bosco Engineering women’s team included Mansi Jaiswar, Miffy Doyel Rebelo, Gargi Mohite, Fay Antao, Danely Pearl Gomes, Vedika Raju Balnaik, Suzane Andra, Sneha Gounder, Sabiha Muchagod, Sania Trisha Cardozo, Raynel Dias, Meha Dangui, Ajury Silva, Ilyssa Afonso, Anusha Shinde and Suzette Rodrigues, whose collective performance led the college to the championship title.
