Guirdolim: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, defeated Santa Cruz Society of Poitomoddo, Cuncolim 2-1 and moved into the quarter final of the 49th Chandor Seamen football tournament organised by Chandor club at Chandor ground.
It was a pulsating match, which was enjoyed by a large crowd. Santa Cruz Society drew first blood through Jollyton Fernandes in the 8th. minute, when he headed in a corner. Don Bosco Oratory mounted pressure on their opponents and succeeded in equalising in the 17th. minute through Wedly Barrotto, who cleverly chipped over the goalkeeper from the left flank. At half time, both teams were level 1-1 draw at lemon break.
Both teams began the second half in great earnest to score and don bosco midfielder Cliff Barreto powerful right from the top of the box was punch away for corner in the 40 th minutes. the winning goal eluded them till 53rd. minute, when Don Bosco Oratory defender, Alfred Noronha neatly placed the ball into the goal following a corner kick which was well feeded by Ace left footer Francisco Andrade.
