PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that the students, after completing their courses, should depend on their parents or local MLA to get jobs.
“Some students think that after graduation, their parents or the MLA of that concerned constituency will provide them jobs. This is true. The students should not depend on this; they should either search for their own job or start a business,” he added.
He further said that there are so many opportunities in the state at the moment, and the students should take advantage.
“There are opportunities in various sectors, the demand is more, but the supply is less,” said Sawant.
Chief Minister said that the state government wants students to take different courses rather than routine ones.
“The government’s intention is only skilling, upskilling and that students should take up different courses rather than routine courses of BA, BCOM and BSC. The students should do something different. Whatever help is required, the state government will do it,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that the state government is helping students right from career guidance to the financial scheme, be it SC, ST, or economically weaker sections of the society.
“The type of help the students are getting in terms of making their career should be taken up,” he said.
Sawant said that in Goa, there is no culture of students preparing well in advance for future studies or job aspects.
