PANAJI: The Goa University conducted the Inter-Collegiate Judo Championship 2024-25 for Men & Women from 20th to 22nd August 2024 at the Jubilee Hall, Goa University. Around 200 athletes (Men & Women) from various affiliated colleges participated in 7 different weight categories.
In the Men’s Section, V.M. Salgaocar College of Law was the overall champion. The runner-up position was won by Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim and the third place was shared by Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Margao and Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim.
In the Women’s Section, V. M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar were the overall champion followed by Runners up position by Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Porvorimand the Third Place was shared by Narayan Zantye College of Commerce, Bicholim, Goa Medical College & Hospital, Bambolim and Goa College of Home Science, Campal
The Best Judoka-Men was awarded to Vilroy D’Souza of V. M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar and the Best Judoka-Women was awarded to Isha Fernandes of V. M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar.
The Chief guest of the championship was Shashikant Morajkar, Assistant Registrar-Public Relations and Directorates, Goa University and Guest of Honour Mir Dias, Judo coach, Sports Authority of Goa along with Mr. Balachandra B. Jadar, Asst. The Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University graced the occasion and presented the medals and trophies to the winners.
