BAMBOLIM: Dr Jai Prakash Tiwari, who has been serving as Head of the Nephrology Department at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), has officially assumed charge as the new Dean of the institution.
The appointment was confirmed through a government order issued on Tuesday, ending a delay of more than three years. Dr Tiwari’s promotion was originally announced by the Personnel Department on April 4, 2022, but the order was unexpectedly revoked the following day without any clear reason.
His elevation to the post has now been formally restored with immediate effect. He takes over the role following the retirement of Dr Shivanand Bandekar, who stepped down on June 30 after reaching the retirement age of 65 years, as mandated for medical faculty.
