Dr Suresh Amonkar succumbs to COVID19 after 15 day battle

PANAJI: Former Health Minister Dr Suresh Amonkar big the 8th victim of COVID in Goa.
Dr Amonkar, was critical for last few days as he had diabetes and kidney failureand died of Covid after a 15-day long prolonged battle in Covid hospital. He was admitted on 21 June.

Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant condoled the death of Ex- Health Minister, “Deeply saddened by the passing away of Dr. Suresh Amonkar, former President of BJP Goa Pradesh and Former Cabinet Minister of Goa Govt. His contribution to the State of Goa is immense and will never be forgotten. I express my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family”.
Dr Suresh Kuso Amonkar was elected to the Goa Legislative Assembly from Pale in the 1999 and 2002 Goa Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was Minister of Health, Social Welfare, and Labour & Employment in Francisco Sardinha cabinet from 1999 to 2000 then Minister of Health, Labour & Employment, and Factories and Boilers in First Manohar Parrikar cabinet. He lost the 2007 Goa Legislative Assembly election to the Congress candidate.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane also condoled his demise saying, “Deeply saddened to hear about the sad demise of former Health Minister & President of BJP Goa, Shri. Suresh Amonkar ji due to #COVID19″”
May God give his family the strength to overcome this tragic loss. My prayers are with his family & loved ones. May his soul rest in peace, Rane said in his condolence message.
