CANACONA: On a day of a dramatic event, Dr Venkatesh, who was red-carded by the government from operating the dialysis unit at CHC, Canacona handed over the dialysis patients’ services by him to the Director of Health Services and sought 10-days time to move out the machinery/equipment and vacate Unit at Canacona.
As informed, a Health team from the Department of Director of Health Services led by Director (ADM) Shripad Arlekar has descended at Community Health Centre (CHC) Canacona by 10am on Thursday to take over the Dialysis Unit from Dr Venkatesh.
The team, however, found the unit locked and left the venue post lunchtime after expecting the arrival of Dr Venkatesh to hand over the unit.
The DHS team, which also consisted of Dy. Director (Public Health)- Dr Rupa Naik and three other DHS officials left the venue; Dr. Venkatesh came at about 3.30 pm and handed over a list of 28 Dialysis Patients serviced by Dr Venkatesh at his Canacona Dialysis Unit operated in the CHC to Canacona Health Officer Dr Amonkar.
Incidentally, Dr Amonkar is also one of the DHS team members to take over the charge of the Dialysis Unit from Dr Venkatesh.
HO Dr Amonkar confirmed the development and further informed us everything is normal and no patients availing Dialysis care at Canacona would be inconvenienced.
“The DHS team, on their arrival, carried out an inspection of CHC, particularly about the dialysis care unit and found everything satisfactory. Dr Venkatesh, however, reached later in the evening(3.10pm) and submitted a list of 28 Dialysis Patients serviced by him and the details patients cycle; eventually, 8 patients were provided Dialysis care on Thursday, and till now, 4 have availed Dialysis on Friday”, Dr Amonkar informed when this correspondent contacted on Friday afternoon time.
Dr. Venkatesh, however, sought 10 days’ time to hand over the keys of the Dialysis unit in CHC, as a lot of machinery and equipment needs to be moved out by him.
He also got a reprieve from the court.
Dialysis patients are suitably serviced by Apex, providing dialysis to Canacona patients, who are provided with a separate unit on the first floor of the CHC building, and Dr. Amonkar informed everything is handled smoothly.
