Panaji: Drishti Marine lifesavers maintained a strong and vigilant presence along Goa’s coastline during Chhath Puja, ensuring the safety of hundreds of devotees who gathered at the beaches to perform traditional rituals and offer prayers to the setting and rising sun.
The lifesaving teams were deployed across key beaches, including Miramar, Candolim, Colva, and Benaulim, where devotees assembled along the shoreline for the religious observance.
Equipped with rescue tubes, jet skis, and first-aid kits, the lifesavers kept a close watch on the proceedings, ensuring that the devotees could perform their rituals safely near the waterline.
At Miramar beach, Drishti Marine personnel were seen actively monitoring the crowd and assisting worshippers as they entered the shallow waters to make offerings.
Their timely coordination and alertness helped maintain order and prevent any untoward incidents during the high tide hours.
A spokesperson for Drishti Marine said that additional lifesavers had been stationed at popular beaches considering the large turnout for Chhath Puja.
“Our teams worked extended hours to ensure that the devotees could perform their rituals safely. Public safety remains our highest priority,” the spokesperson added.
Chhath Puja, a major festival celebrated by devotees from Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh, saw participation from numerous residents and visitors across Goa this year.
