PANAJI: Drishti Marine lifesavers carried out multiple rescue operations across Goa over the weekend, saving 12 people from drowning at various beaches and the Dudhsagar waterfalls. They also provided first aid to four injured persons, including a tourist attacked by a monkey, and helped trace three missing children.
At Dudhsagar waterfalls, a 28-year-old tourist from Hyderabad suffered injuries after being attacked by a monkey and was administered first aid by Drishti Marine lifesavers. The team also rescued a 32-year-old tourist from Andhra Pradesh who jumped into the water without a lifejacket.
At Sinquerim beach, three members of a family from Gujarat were rescued after being swept by a strong wave. Lifesavers used rescue tubes in a swift and coordinated operation.
At Candolim beach, a 30-year-old tourist from Bengaluru was saved from a rip current 70 metres offshore with the help of a rescue board and jet ski.
At Calangute beach, two missing children were successfully traced and reunited with their group following a prompt search operation.
At Baga beach, a 56-year-old tourist from Kerala was rescued from a rip current, while at Vagator beach, lifesavers rescued two minor boys trapped in the current and provided medical aid to another 12-year-old who accidentally swallowed seawater.
At Miramar beach, a missing child was located and safely reunited with parents after a quick response by the lifesaving team.
Further south, at Benaulim beach, a 29-year-old woman from Bengaluru was rescued after drifting 50 metres from shore while bodyboarding.
At Palolem beach, lifesavers rescued a 70-year-old tourist from South Korea who drifted too far into the sea, and in another incident, saved a 38-year-old man from Pune caught in a rip current.
At Agonda beach, a 76-year-old tourist from the United Kingdom was rescued after panicking in the water.
Drishti Marine reiterated its appeal to tourists to follow safety instructions, swim only in designated zones, and avoid entering the sea under the influence of alcohol or without safety gear.
