Sancoale: Verna Police Station has registered an offence in connection with a head-on collision reported on the National Highway near Sheela Bar restaurant at Zari, Sancoale.
The case was registered on the basis of a State complaint filed by HC 4750 Siddesh Dessai of Verna Police Station. According to police, the accident occurred on 20/02/2026 at around 6:10 a.m.
As per the complaint, the accused driver, identified as Mekkattel Jimmy Joy, a resident of Zuarinagar, was allegedly driving a BMW car in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Cortalim junction towards Vasco. Upon reaching near Sheela Bar restaurant, the BMW allegedly dashed against an oncoming KIA car that was travelling from Vasco towards Cortalim.
Due to the impact, the driver of the KIA car, Fidelis Manuel Pegado, a resident of Cortalim, got trapped in the driver’s seat and sustained injuries. The BMW driver also reportedly suffered injuries in the collision.
Police have initiated further investigation into the case under HC Siddesh Dessai of Verna Police Station.
