VERNA: Police have arrested a Mahindra Thar driver for rash and negligent driving after he allegedly collided head-on with a Wagon R at Verna, leaving one person injured.
According to Verna Police, the incident occurred on August 17 at around 7.56 pm when the accused, identified as Jnyandeep Sarma of Kolkata, was driving his Thar from Panaji towards Benaulim. Near Quatro Open Air Hall on the western bypass road, Sarma allegedly swerved into the opposite lane and rammed into an oncoming Wagon R.
The Wagon R driver, Derrick Rodrigues of Porvorim, sustained bodily injuries in the accident, while the accused driver also suffered minor injuries. Both vehicles were damaged in the collision.
Based on a state complaint lodged by ASI Paresh Fal Dessai of Verna Police Station, offences of rash and negligent driving have been registered against the Thar driver. Further investigation is being carried out by Verna Police.
