VALPOI:The Valpoi Police have arrested a truck driver from Karnataka for allegedly transporting about two tonnes of red meat illegally in Sattari.
According to police, the case was registered on October 6, 2025, based on a complaint filed by Police Constable Sumesh Subhash Naik (31), attached to Valpoi Police Station.
At around 1:15 pm on Monday, Constable Naik intercepted a white-and-yellow Tata 610 SFC (pickup) truck bearing registration number KA 22 AA 6389 at the Ghat road before the border check post at Keri, Sattari. The truck driver, identified as Manjur Maksood Shaikh (27), a resident of Hudali, Belgaum, Karnataka, was allegedly found transporting approximately two tonnes of red meat, valued at around ₹15 lakh, without any valid documents or authorization from the competent authority.
The accused was arrested the same day and later released on a personal bond at around 12:40 am.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Kushali Naik of Valpoi Police Station.
