PANAJI: Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane has directed the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) to drop cases filed against villagers of Caranzol Sattari and RFO.
Rane has moved a note to PCCF Rajiv Gupta requesting him to put up a file for government approval.
This case is related shooting incident by the RFO of firing a revolver in the air in the village of Caranzol, Sattari,
North Goa.
“This incident is creating a lot of complications amongst the village folk. While I am totally with the Department, at the same time, I am a representative of the constituency of Sattari, and I must ensure that there is a coexistence between the Forest Department and the people,” said Rane in his letter written to PCCF.
He further said that he would like to issue directions and the file must be put up on top priority, that the cases that have been filed pertaining to Prabhudessai, related to the incident where there was a mob gathered around, and cases were filed against the people of the village of Caranzol, must be dropped with immediate effect.
“This may be please taken as my directions, and this note may be put up to the Government for approval. This file must be put up in public interest, as it is pertinent that the Forest Department and the people of the village coexist,” he added.
