PANAJI: V.M. Salgaocar College of Law, Mala, through its Free Legal Aid Cell, in collaboration with the North Goa District Legal Services Authority, organised a lecture on drug abuse prevention at Don Bosco College, Panaji.
The awareness session was led by Mr. Sahil Warang, Police Sub-Inspector of Anjuna Police Station, who addressed students on the serious dangers and long-term consequences of substance abuse. He also highlighted the role of youth in resisting drugs and spreading awareness within society.
The programme was graced by Shri Irshad Agha, Principal District and Sessions Judge, and Mr. Narayan Surendra Amonkar, Retired Judge and presently Chief of the Legal Aid Defence Council, District Legal Services Authority. Both dignitaries emphasised the judiciary’s commitment to preventive legal awareness and the importance of early intervention to combat drug abuse.
The event concluded with the screening of a short but impactful film on drug abuse, created and presented by students of V.M. Salgaocar College of Law (Mala Legal Aid Cell). The film, directed by Klasha De Souza and Salma Shaikh, conveyed a strong message on the harmful effects and consequences of substance abuse.
The programme formed part of ongoing efforts to educate and sensitise students on the social and legal implications of drug abuse
