MAPUSA: On an interstate bus from Mumbai to Goa, a woman bravely confronted a male traveler who she claimed was harassing her the entire way and beat him up.
According to the police, the woman was harassed throughout the entire trip by the inebriated male who disregarded her numerous warnings.
The woman claimed, according to sources, that the tourist used his cell phone to play loud music and made disparaging remarks about women while on the bus. Despite her and numerous other passengers’ protests, the tourist did not turn down the music.
The accused then allegedly instructed the bus conductor to mind his own business and even attempted to offer him alcohol to keep him away when the conductor attempted to step in. Then, while traveling, he persisted in harassing the woman and other passengers.
The woman, unable to endure the trauma for the duration of the trip, waited patiently for the bus to reach Mapusa, then took the tourist by the collar and started beating him until locals joined her. Since it was caught on camera, the incident has gone viral on social media.
Later, the 45-year-old woman from Chembur, Mumbai, Maharashtra, filed a formal complaint against the accused and his companion at the Mapusa Police Station, alleging that they had made disparaging remarks about women and watched inappropriate movies on their phonesWhen questioned, the subjects revealed themselves to be Giriver Shuhtai Nirale, 30, from Chhattisgarh, and Rittal Birandar Shaw, 31, from Jharkhand.
“There was a high probability that the two people would commit a cognizable offense soon after their acts and the public’s subsequent concern of an impending threat to life and property. Both people were taken into custody under Section 170 of the BNSS 2023 in order to keep the peace and avoid any undesirable events inside the boundaries of Mapusa Police Station, according to the police.
