New Delhi: The Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs registered a convincing 27 run victory over the Directorate of Prosecution in the Goa State Civil Services Cricket Tournament played at Campal Ground.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs put up a competitive total of 148 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The team built their innings steadily with valuable contributions from several players. Nikesh Panajikar led the batting effort with a solid 36 runs, helping the side post a challenging score.
The bowling department also delivered an impressive performance to defend the target. Dr Ajay Gaude emerged as one of the standout bowlers, claiming three wickets while conceding only 19 runs in his four overs. Santosh Naik also played a crucial role with the ball, picking up three wickets after contributing 15 runs with the bat earlier in the innings. Nikesh Panajikar completed an excellent all round performance by taking three wickets to further strengthen DSYA’s bowling attack.
Chasing a target of 149 runs, the Directorate of Prosecution struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Despite attempts to stabilise the innings, regular wickets slowed their progress. The team was eventually bowled out for 122 runs in 18.5 overs, handing DSYA a comfortable win by 27 runs.
With this victory, the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs has advanced further in the tournament and will now prepare for their next encounter. They are scheduled to face the winner of the match between the Directorate of Health Services and the Commercial Taxes Department.
The upcoming match will be played on April 15 at the Campal ground in Panaji, with the first ball scheduled for 8.30 am.
