COLLEM: The Dudhsagar Circuit in Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park (BMWLS&NP) will reopen for eco-tourism activities for the year 2025-26, following government approval. The move aims to promote responsible tourism while ensuring visitor safety and conservation of the sanctuary.
Authorized vehicles with valid permits can access the circuit through online bookings on the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) portal. The entry gate at Collem will remain open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, allowing batches of 30-40 visitors at hourly intervals to manage crowding and parking space effectively.
A maximum of 240 trips per day will be permitted, as recommended by the State Board for Wildlife (SBWL). Only vehicles registered with the Goa Forest Department and holding permits will be allowed; private vehicles and two-wheelers will be strictly prohibited.
Visitors must adhere to safety norms, including mandatory use of life jackets at the falls. Adequate forest staff, lifeguards, nature guides, and support personnel will be deployed, particularly near the Collem river crossing and waterfall, with increased presence during the first 15 days and during weather warnings from the IMD.
Other guidelines include: a maximum of seven adults per vehicle, prohibition of plastic bottles and bags inside the sanctuary, strict action against visitors carrying or consuming alcohol, and compliance with do’s and don’ts displayed at the park. Jeep operators are responsible for visitor safety and must ensure a visit to the Nature Interpretation Centre at Collem for at least 15 minutes to promote awareness of forest and wildlife conservation.
The Forest Department reserves the right to suspend ecotourism activities on specific days, particularly during orange or red weather alerts. Over-speeding, rash driving, or violation of rules may lead to suspension or cancellation of permits.
The reopening is expected to offer nature enthusiasts a safe and regulated opportunity to experience the beauty of Dudhsagar Falls while supporting conservation efforts in Goa.
