CANACONA: The Deputy Collector of Canacona has summoned a meeting of relevant authorities on Monday to discuss measures following a councillor’s application regarding a High Court order on stray cattle on roads.
The meeting notice, issued on Thursday (25-09-2025), by Dy. Collector & Sub-Divisional Magistrate Prataprao P. Gaunkar, called for the presence of the CMC Chief Officer, Block Development Officer, Police Inspector (Traffic Cell), panchayat secretaries of VP Agonda, Khola, Shristhal, Gaondongrim, Khotigao, and Loliem-Polem, Canacona Veterinary Officer, PWD (Roads) AE, PWD (NH) AE, as well as representatives from Dhyan Foundation, Zambaulim. The meeting is scheduled at 12 pm in the Dy. Collector’s chamber.
The development comes after the tragic death of 11 cattle at Maxem (Loliem-Polem) on NH-66 last week due to speeding vehicles. Canacona Municipal Councillor Shubham Komarpant filed an application urging the authorities to take action in compliance with the High Court order concerning stray cattle on public roads.
