PANAJI: The ongoing e-auction of iron ore dumps, which was supposed to start on January 30th, has been postponed by the Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) due to a technical issue.
Up to 125 bids totaling 5.2 million metric tonnes have been submitted for 18 iron ore dumps. With a combined total of more than 14 lakh metric tonnes, the greatest dump is found in the villages of Bandoli and Cormonem. Sonus Vonvoliem has 11.7 lakh metric tons.
Sources claim that on January 30, four dumps totaling 74.45 lakh metric tonnes of ore from the villages of Costi, Codli, and Dudal were offered for e-auction.
But despite the e-auction, the process was stopped owing to a technical problem, and as a result, it was deemed void.
Four more dumps at Codli and Santona were scheduled to go up for sale on Saturday, but the event was canceled and had to be rescheduled.
Originally planned for January 22, the e-auction was moved to January 30.
The agency’s dump profile analysis indicates that the dump grades range from 45 to 50 Fe concentration.
