PANAJI: Goa’s tourism industry will greatly benefit from the improved flight connectivity and e-visa rules announced in the Union Budget, according to Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte.
Khaunte told reporters in Panaji that e-visa facilities will facilitate foreign visitors’ arrival in India and, eventually, Goa.
Khaunte said the announcement will assist enhance foot traffic and help recoup from the post-COVID-19 tourism gap, pointing to the updated UDAN plan that improves regional connections.
Khaunte praised the Union Budget, saying it reinforces the commitment of the Indian government to a number of sectors. “This budget will significantly speed up the nation’s progress toward Viksit Bharat 2047,” he continued.
According to the tourism minister, the industry will continue to expand with the support of programs like MUDRA loans, improved connectivity, e-visas, and wellness, spiritual, and skill-building tourism.
According to him, his department has been keeping a careful eye on residents’ employment prospects in the hospitality industry. According to Khaunte, “these initiatives will also help attain the goal of employment for locals in the tourism sector.”
According to Khaunte, the Goa government’s goal of promoting Goa outside of its beaches is in line with the spiritual tourism plan. He went on to say that the state has already made its stance known on the promotion of house stays, which is another facet of spiritual tourism.
He added that the state has a lot of potential for medical tourism.
