Jasprit Bumrah set the tone with a fiery spell that earned him three wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav struck twice to keep India firmly in control. Tristan Stubbs and Kyle Verreynne were at the crease as South Africa attempted to steady their innings.
The match marks the beginning of a significant two-Test series, with India hosting the reigning World Test Championship winners. South Africa have arrived with a balanced attack, including experienced spinners Senuran Muthusamy, Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj, who are expected to challenge the Indian line-up throughout the series.
