PANAJI: India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that easterly winds & moisture incursion in lower atmosphere is likely to result in rainfall till a week.
“In continuation of previous forecasts, easterly winds &moisture incursion in the lower atmosphere are likely to result in rain/thundershower activity over North&South Goa districts from 30th October onwards & it is likely to continue for about a week with varying intensity,” the IMD said
The forcast further states that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at one or two places over both the district during all 5 days. Isolated to scattered distribution of rainfall/thundershowers is likely to continue from 30th October.
Further, aow-pressure area lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal adjoining Sri Lanka off the Tamil Nadu coast, and the associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.
“It is likely to move westwards during the next 48 hours. A trough in easterlies also runs from the cyclonic circulation associated with this low-pressure to Northwest Bay of Bengal,”.
Under the influence of the above systems, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated/few places over Tamil Nadu in this forecast period, and over isolated areas across Coastal Andhra Pradesh for the next 24 hours.
