PERNEM: Pernem Police have registered a case against eight persons, including four identified locals, for allegedly restraining a vehicle, assaulting multiple people, and issuing threats in connection with a dispute in Konadi, Korgao.
Police said that on the evening of August 11, accused Rahul Ulhas Bhagat, Rohit Bhagat, Mahesh Bhagat, Ulhas Bhagat, and 5–6 unidentified persons allegedly stopped a tipper truck belonging to complainant Nadeem Naik, driven by his employee Satyender Gupta. When Naik confronted them, he was reportedly assaulted with fist blows and kicks.
The accused, led by Rahul Bhagat, are further alleged to have trespassed into the home of Naik’s cousin, Sarfaraj Naik, forcibly taking him outside and assaulting him along with Naik’s 75-year-old uncle, Ahmed Naik, who tried to intervene.
The group allegedly threatened the victims with dire consequences over prior enmity.
A case has been registered under Sections 126(2), 115(2), 118(1), 333, 189(2), 191(2), 191(3), and 351(3) read with 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Further investigation is underway.
