PONDA: Bhika Kerkar and Sharmila Sangaonkar were elected unopposed today as Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch of Curti-Khandepar Panchayat.
After Sarpanch Gurudas Khedekar and Deputy, the posts had fallen vacant last week.
With musical chair for Sarpanch post in eleven members, Curti-Khandepar Panchayat today got its eighth Sarpanch in four and half year period in the form of Bhika Kerkar.
It may be recalled that the musical chair play has been going on in this Panchayat since the Panchayat election in 2017. So far, seven Sarpanch enjoyed the post, and the newly elected Sarpanch Bhika Kerkar is the eighth Sarpanch on Panchayat. Locals are criticising the musical chair, alleging development work was halted due to frequent changes of Sarpanch.
Eight Sarpanch in four and half years…
So far, musical chair Curti Khandepar Panchayat got seven Sarpanch because of the no-confidence motion. After Panchayat Body was elected, Rukma Khandeparkar became first Sarpanch, then Santan Fernandes, Dadi Naik, Shailesh Shet, Shravani Gaude, while Gurudas Khedekar became twice the Sarpanch of Panchayat, and today Bhika Kerkar became eighth Sarpanch.
