CANACONA: The South Goa Marine Range, Galgibaga, in collaboration with St. Sebastian’s High School, Loliem, celebrated Vanamahotsav under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam – A Step Towards Greener Tomorrow” on Wednesday.
As part of the initiative, 500 saplings were distributed, including 150 flowering plants, 50 crotons, and 300 fruit-bearing varieties. More than 200 saplings were planted on the school premises, while the remaining were handed over to students and parents to plant in their courtyards, ensuring the drive extended beyond the school campus.
Range Forest Officer Rajesh Naik led the plantation programme, assisted by Forest Guard Kusta Korgaonkar and his team. School Headmistress Sr. Jenifer Fernandes, teachers, non-teaching staff, and students enthusiastically participated in the green initiative.
The drive aimed to raise environmental awareness among students while encouraging communities to contribute to a greener and healthier future.
