Bicholim: A 33-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a road accident at Lakherem, Bicholim, after a car allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner collided with his two-wheeler on Saturday morning.
According to Bicholim Police, the incident occurred on January 25 at around 10.50 am when a Suzuki Ignis car bearing registration number GA-09-D-5497, driven by Satish Lotlikar (71), a resident of Pongirwal, Curchorem, was proceeding from Bicholim towards Lakherem. On reaching the slope at Lakherem, the car reportedly dashed into an oncoming Hero Xpulse motorcycle bearing registration number GA-04-P-7721, which was travelling from Lakherem towards Bicholim.
The motorcycle rider, Ganesh Biradar (33), a resident of Krishnanagar, Bordem, Bicholim, sustained grievous injuries in the collision and later succumbed to his injuries.
Following an enquiry conducted in Bicholim Police Station Motor Vehicle Accident No. 12/2026 dated January 25, Head Constable Devidas Ghadi (B. No. 5929), attached to Bicholim Police Station, lodged a complaint on behalf of the State.
Police arrested the accused Satish Lotlikar on January 25 at around 7.33 pm. He was later released on bail on the same day.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by PSI Jayprakash Jankar of Bicholim Police Station.
