BAINA: A 62-year-old man died after reportedly falling from a height near his residence at Katem Baina in Mormugao on Wednesday.
According to police, a call was received from PCR Margao at around 4.48 pm on April 2 informing that a person had fallen from a height near Moga Bai, Katem Baina. Police rushed to the spot and found Anthony Peter Rodrigues, 62, a resident of Katem Baina, lying unconscious on the left side of his house with bleeding injuries.
He was immediately shifted to Sub District Hospital, Chicalim, where the on-duty doctor declared him brought dead. Police thereafter conducted an unnatural death occurrence panchanama and inquest over the body. The body was later preserved at South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for medico-legal formalities.
During inquiry, the deceased’s sister Argentina Rodrigues and tenant Ulgava Valmiki informed police that Rodrigues lived alone and frequently carried out work at his house such as painting, electrical repairs, rooftop work and tile fitting. They stated that at around 1.40 pm on the day of the incident, Chetan Valmiki noticed Rodrigues lying unconscious beside the house while playing in the veranda.
Mormugao Police have registered an unnatural death case and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Saidatta Naik.
