Porvorim: Saligao Police have registered an unnatural death case after a 78-year-old man was found dead at his residence in Porvorim late Thursday night.
According to police, U.D. No. 10/2026 under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) was registered at 10:23 pm on March 12, 2026, following a phone call received from the PCR unit in Panaji.
The deceased has been identified as Bhullan Vishwakarma (78), son of Mahabir Vishwakarma and a resident of Plot No. 4, H. No. 406/147, near PDA Colony, Porvorim, Bardez.
Police said the elderly man was found hanging on the terrace of his residence using a nylon rope tied to a horizontal roof beam/iron structure.
After receiving the information, police visited the spot and conducted the scene of occurrence panchanama in the presence of two panch witnesses.
The body has been shifted to the GMC Morgue at Bambolim for preservation.
Further inquiry in the case is being carried out by PSI Dishan Naik of Saligao Police Station.
