Ponda: An elderly woman sustained injuries after being hit by a scooter near the Nestle Company at Usgao, Ponda. The incident was reported based on a state complaint lodged by LHC 6852 Nidhi Nanshekar of Ponda Police Station.
As per the complaint, the incident occurred on January 27, 2026, at around 5.30 pm. The accused rider, identified as Sindiya Gaonkar, a resident of Zambalim, Mollem, was allegedly riding her Activa scooter in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life, while proceeding from Ponda towards the Mollem side.
When the scooter reached near the Nestle Company at Usgao, it allegedly dashed against a pedestrian woman, identified as Husenabi Mahaddaniph Sayyad (70), a resident of Usgao, Ponda, who was crossing the road. As a result of the collision, both the pedestrian and the scooter rider sustained bodily injuries.
Ponda Police have registered a case in connection with the incident. Further investigation is being carried out by LHC 6852 Nidhi Nanshekar of Ponda Police Station.
