GOA VELHA: An elderly woman succumbed to her injuries following a road accident near the Indian Oil petrol pump at Goa Velha on November 3.
According to Agacaim Police, the mishap occurred around 11:35 am when a Yamaha MT-15 motorcycle (GA-07-AG-7758), ridden by 21-year-old Shaikh Mohammad Zaid of Agacaim, allegedly hit an Activa scooter (GA-07-AD-0620) from behind. The scooter was being ridden by 78-year-old Saju Naik with his wife, 71-year-old Sangeeta Naik, as pillion.
Police said the motorcycle was being ridden in a rash and negligent manner when it collided with the scooter, as seen in CCTV footage. All three sustained injuries and were shifted to GMC, Bambolim, where Sangeeta Naik later succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Based on a complaint lodged by Head Constable Vinit Kurtikar, Agacaim Police registered a case under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway.
