The resident who witnessed the incident quickly called up a former city councillor Krishna (Daji) Salkar, who reportedly informed the local police and the fire brigade, who immediately rushed to the site and managed to rescue the old woman.
Fire safety personnel said that the Vasco fire station received a call at around 10.45 am that an old lady had fallen in the open well. We rushed to the site and noticed that an old woman held a rope inside the well. Our fire firefighters brought a metal ladder and rescued her from the well.
