Panaji: Information Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte conducted a detailed review of the progress at the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster in Tuem during a stakeholder meeting held on March 18, 2026. The visit highlighted the government’s focus on accelerating the completion of the project and ensuring that the facility becomes operational at the earliest.
The review meeting was attended by senior officials from the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications along with representatives from the Goa Information Technology Development Corporation, Info Tech Corporation Goa, the Goa Electricity Department, Public Works Department, Goa Police and the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services. Key officials present included Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director of DITE&C, Praveen Volvotkar, Managing Director of ITG, Subrai Nadkarni, Chief Engineer of ITG, and Dr Milind Sakhardande, Joint Director of DITE&C.
During the inspection, the Minister reviewed several important facilities within the cluster, including the warehouse and the waste management building, along with other supporting infrastructure. He stressed the importance of completing all physical infrastructure, utilities and common amenities so that industries can begin operations without delays.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for different departments to present their logistical requirements and operational concerns. The Minister reviewed specific needs raised by the Fire and Emergency Services as well as the Electricity Department, ensuring that essential safety and power infrastructure are properly integrated into the project.
Another key point discussed during the review was the installation of a communication and internet tower within the cluster. The Minister instructed stakeholders to immediately follow up on this requirement to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for future industries operating at the site. He also emphasised maintaining strong standards of security and upkeep so the facility is fully prepared before becoming operational.
Concluding the review, the Minister reiterated that the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster at Tuem is a strategic project for the state. The initiative aims to attract new investments, generate high quality employment for local residents and strengthen Goa’s position as an emerging destination for electronics manufacturing in India.
