Canacona: A group of social and environmental activists has called for a large public gathering in Canacona on Sunday under the banner “Enough is Enough,” urging citizens to come together to raise concerns over environmental protection and development policies in Goa.
Addressing the media, activists including Sandesh Prabhudesai, Ramesh Komarpant, Kalpana Bhat, Vassalo Carvalho, Manoj Prabhu Gaonkar and Denis Fernandes appealed to the public to attend the meeting scheduled at Shristhal in Canacona on Sunday at 4 pm.
The organisers said the event aims to mobilise people to speak out against what they described as growing threats to Goa’s natural environment.
Environmental activist Manoj Prabhu Gaonkar informed that the main speaker at the meeting will be former judge Ferdino Rebello, who is expected to address participants on issues related to environmental degradation and governance.
Prominent journalist Sandesh Prabhudesai urged citizens to participate in large numbers, stressing that protecting the environment must take precedence over economic interests.
Meanwhile, Ramesh (RBS) Komarpant appealed to residents to stand in solidarity with those raising concerns over environmental issues and to collectively express their views on the present situation affecting the region.
The organisers said the meeting will provide a platform for citizens to discuss environmental challenges and chart a collective response to safeguard Goa’s natural heritage.
