PANAJI: In order to offer provident fund advantages to their staff, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has instructed all educational institutions to register under the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Miscellaneous Provisions (MP) Act. The heads of all government, government-aided, and unaided primary, secondary, higher secondary, and special schools have received a circular in this regard. EPF and MP, according to Education Director Shailesh Zingde, are social laws passed by Parliament through the Act of 1952 with the intention of giving organised sector workers access to social benefits including EPF, pensions, and insurance.
All educational institutions must register under the EPF and MP Act after receiving notification from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). “Educational institutions which have employed 19 employees directly or indirectly through a contract are liable to be registered mandatorily,” he stated. The agency has requested that schools register as soon as possible.
